Councillor Angharad Davies

Angharad Davies is a recently retired (2006) Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She was born in London of welsh parents and was educated in England and South Africa . Leaving the Perse School for Girls, Cambridge , she graduated in medicine from The University of Liverpool and then trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, taking up an NHS Consultant appointment in Sunderland , Tyne and Wear in 1983.

Later, with 2 step daughters and a son and daughter she moved back to the south east for family reasons, and founded the Gynaecological Department at Benenden Hospital in Kent ; an independent hospital with charitable status, serving a health care scheme of 950,000 members. She developed the Unit to its present training and research position.

She became a Rother District Councillor in May 2007 and is concentrating her efforts on health and housing. She joined HOSC in June 2007. Angharad brings a background of strong training and development experience from medicine and organisational management. She is dedicated to achieving professional excellence and understanding peoples' needs.
