Proposed changes to Maternity and Paediatric Services
The Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), the NHS organisations that commission health services for residents of East Sussex, have led a review of maternity and paediatric services in the county. This included an extensive programme of patient and public engagement that commenced in July 2013. The output of this engagement has informed the development of six proposed delivery options for safe, high quality and sustainable maternity and paediatric services in East Sussex. The delivery options were put out to public consultation between 13 January and 8 April 2014.
The CCGs made their decision on the new services on 25 June 2014.

HOSC involvement
HOSC decided at its 10 January 2014 meeting that the proposed change to maternity and paediatric services in East Sussex constituted a substantial variation to existing services. This required the CCGs to consult formally with the Committee alongside its own public consultation process.
HOSC has heard from a wide range of interested parties, including clinicians and campaign groups, at evidence gathering meetings on 17 February and 20 March 2014.
On 19 June 2014 HOSC agreed its final report and recommendations to submit to the CCGs.
HOSC received the CCGs' final conclusions and decision 28 July 2014. HOSC has considered the decisions made by the CCGs and agree that they are in the best interest of the health service for residents of East Sussex.
HOSC meetings are open to the public to attend and are webcast live.
