Introduction by - Councillor Bill Bentley

Welcome to the Website of the East Sussex Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

East Sussex County Council has been set a new challenging agenda to review and improve the health services and tackle health inequalities experienced by East Sussex residents. From Rye and Hastings to Lewes and from Eastbourne to Crowborough there are common concerns about a broad range of issues that impact on our health.

Councillors from East Sussex County Council together with Councillors from the five local District and Borough Councils have established the East Sussex Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC) in response to a central government initiative.

The committee looks at the work of Primary Care Trusts, NHS Trusts and the Strategic Health Authority. We work with them to suggest ways that health related services might be improved. We also look at the way health delivery services interact with our own Council services and explore ways that we can jointly provide better health support for the diverse needs of East Sussex residents.

This website keeps you informed of current work and shows the progress of reviews. We explain in more detail here “what we are what we are not

This web site provides a glimpse of the extent of work that we are undertaking. Please explore our pages further. Spend a few minutes to tell us about your health concerns in the ‘your views’ section.
